چکیده

Microporous structures are central to many fields of science and engineering, but many of these systems are complex with little or no symmetry and are difficult to fabricate. We applied two-photon polymerization (2PP) and femtosecond laser direct-writing techniques to fabricate broadarea large-format 3D microporous structures (450 μm × 450 μm × 40 μm) in the epoxy-based photoresist SU-8. The appropriate exposure was determined by controlling average pulse energies and stage speeds to generate the exposure curves. Mechanical distortion exhibited in suspended walls fabricated by 2PP laser writing was studied by controlling wall lengths and widths. A simple thermal-expansion model is presented to explain the distortion caused by axial load-

Fabrication of Polymeric Multimode Waveguides and Devices in SU-8 Photoresist Using Selective Polymerization

Large cross section multimode waveguides have been realized in SU-8 using selective polymerization. SU-8 is a negative photoresist, which has shown good optical properties and it is mechanically and chemically stable. The fabricated waveguides have very smooth sidewalls and exhibit low optical losses. The fabrication method is simple and potentially very cost effective. N x N and 1 x N multimod...

Fabrication of microscale medical devices by two-photon polymerization with multiple foci via a spatial light modulator

Two-photon polymerization is an appealing technique for producing microscale devices due to its flexibility in producing structures with a wide range of geometries as well as its compatibility with materials suitable for biomedical applications. The greatest limiting factor in widespread use of two-photon polymerization is the slow fabrication times associated with line-by-line, high-resolution...

Exceeding the diffraction limit with single-photon photopolymerization and photo-induced termination

The fabrication of 3D microstructures has been realized by numerous researchers using two-photon polymerization. The premise of these studies is that the confinement provided by localized, two-photon absorption results in polymerization only near the focal point of the focused write beam and unwanted polymerization due to superposition of the out-offocus exposures is significantly reduced, enab...

High-speed multiphoton absorption polymerization: fabrication of microfluidic channels with arbitrary cross-sections and high aspect ratios.

We demonstrate the use of high-speed, multiphoton absorption polymerization (MAP) for the fabrication of large-area microfluidic master structures. High-speed fabrication in SU8 without laser-induced damage is made possible by the use of a novel photoacid generator with a high two-photon-absorption cross-section. Master structures fabricated with MAP can be used to produce polydimethylsiloxane ...

Fabrication of 3D Controlled in vitro Microenvironments

Microfluidics-based lab-on-a-chips have many advantages, one of which is to provide physiologically relevant settings for cell biology experiments. Thus there is an ever increasing interest in their fabrication. Our goal is to construct three dimensional (3D) Controlled in vitro Microenvironments (CivMs) that mimic the in vivo microenvironments. Here, we present our optimized fabrication method...
